I like the critique of religion that’s about the god always being in the image of the god-maker – anthropomorphism. This is why I like philosophy.
There was a philosopher Xenophanes who said everyone’s god was too anthropomorphic. He said god was instead a logical being that existed without an image. But that’s funny because Xenophanes hated his own image and saw himself as a purely logical thinker…. but take his own critique even further — his god was actually another human image, an image of Xenophanes. His god was an anthropomorphization of himself. Your own god is going to be you however you logicalize it. But then there’s also people who make other people slaves to their image of their god… like this photo. damn…
